Dr Siva Sundararajan is a qualified general and obesity surgeon. His main areas of interest are weight loss surgery, gall bladder and hernia surgery. To ensure that the best possible care is provided to his patients, he has undertaken extensive training in the UK, Australia and Europe.
Siva was born in India and migrated to Singapore where he completed his school education. He then served in the Singapore Armed Forces as a combat medic before moving to the UK to study medicine. Siva graduated from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 2003. After starting surgical training in the UK, he migrated to Australia. There he completed many years of surgical training and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016.
To pursue his interest in obesity surgery, he spent a year at Box Hill Hospital in Melbourne in a high-volume bariatric surgery unit with expert surgeons. His mentors there were the first in Australia to perform robotic bariatric surgery and had pioneered bariatric surgery in Australia. Siva then went to Belgium to work with Dr Bruno Dillemans, a world-renowned surgeon in complex obesity surgery to fine-tune his skills. In their bariatric centre in Bruges, they have performed over 10,000 gastric bypasses and have surgeons from all over the world coming to obtain expertise in complex obesity surgery.
With extensive experience in both primary and revision bariatric surgery, Siva frequently accepts referrals from other surgeons for complex revision cases. Dr. Siva Sundararajan practices privately at St John of God Subiaco Hospital and Hollywood Private Hospital and holds public appointments at Galliers Hospital & Specialist Centre in Armadale and St John of God Midland Public Hospital.
With over 10 years of experience in bariatric nutrition, Gemma is dedicated and compassionate registered dietitian who believes in a practical, judgment-free approach to weight loss and wellness. She specializes in guiding patients through both pre-operative and post-operative nutrition, providing support every step of the way on their journey toward better health.
Gemma’s approach is rooted in evidence-based strategies, with a strong emphasis on sustainable lifestyle and dietary changes. She works closely with each patient to develop realistic goals that support long-term success—not just short-term results. Whether it’s preparing for surgery or navigating life after, her priority is to empower individuals with the tools, knowledge, and encouragement they need to thrive.
Kelly manages all aspects of Mr Siva Sundararajan’s practice, always ready to welcome patients and colleagues with a big smile. Her friendly and compassionate nature combined with her expertise ensures she is available to answer any queries. Always willing for a friendly chat.
Kelly has more than 15 years of cumulative work experience in specialist medical practices’ as well as general practice. Recently transitioning to a managerial role whilst undertaking training to further her knowledge and skills.
Kelly is a busy Mum who enjoys time with her family, exploring WA on weekend getaways, camping, playing softball and spending time in the kitchen discovering new recipes or baking treats for the family.
